Are you like iron?

Daily Devotional Podcast. Follow along with blog post.

Proverbs 27:17 says, "iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another." What that means is that the people who are around us are the people who make us better and we make them better. Or at least it should be that way. I Googled some iron synonyms and some of the words were: uncompromising, unrelenting, unyielding, unbending, resolute, resolved, determined, firm, steadfast, and unwavering. All of those words can convey that if a person is like iron, they are fixed, gazed, and purposeful in what they want and nothing will stop them. So I ask, are you like iron? Do you stand on the promises of the Lord? When we're honest with ourselves, we can answer those questions with a definitive yes or no.

If you answer yes to both of those questions, than you are indeed like iron. Yes you are. And more than likely, you are already doing positive and encouraging things. You are already sharpening those around you. You are a sharp person who knows that you are going to eventually get to where God has for you to go. You are attentive to excellence and you are hungry for knowledge, to which you eagerly apply to your life and the lives of others. That's wisdom. In fact, you give a new name to iron lady and iron man. And what I would say to that is, keep it up and keep the sharpening going, because we all need that in our lives.

I feel free

Daily Devotional Podcast. Follow along with blog post. How are you feeling today? What kind of head space have you been in lately? I ask, because I'm just wondering if anybody feels like me -- free like me. Free as an eagle. Free as can be. That's right, out with doing business the old stale way and in with a fresh new operation. It's a shifting happening in the atmosphere of Sharon's life and I'm moving on to the big and awesome things God has for me. What  do you say for yourself? What are you speaking over your life? What it is for you?
For me, I am no longer afraid to go out in the deep end. I am no longer afraid to fly higher, I am no longer concerned about what I have or do not have, and I am no longer concerned about what anybody thinks or says. Who the heck cares anymore? I don't. Because God tells me he doesn't give me a spirit of fear or timidity (2 Timothy 1:7), but He gives me a spirit of love, confidence, power, self-control, and joy. And I…

Encourage yourself in God

Do you know that no matter what you may be going through, you can encourage yourself in the Lord? And the Lord will give you the strength and power you need in order to get through? Yes, He will do it. He did it for David when David probably found it difficult to understand how he would endure. But, guess what? God was with him and God blessed him too. There are so many things I love about David. One of those things is that he encouraged himself in the Lord beyond the challenging circumstances he found himself in (1 Samuel 30:6).
When it seemed all was lost, David didn't give up. When everyone turned their backs on him, he stayed with his vision. When his family and community were taken, he went forth with what God told him to do. David never left the Lord in spite of his circumstances. I love that he did the opposite of what some of us would do, he stayed with God, he didn't run away from God. And he didn't try to take matters into his own hands. He ran towards the order…

When you follow the light

Daily Devotional Podcast. Follow along with blog post. "Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” (John 8:12).
I just want to encourage you to keep looking up, keep following the light, and to keep the plans God has for your life, front and centered. Continue to look up towards heaven no matter what you're going through. If you're not going through anything, then that's good, just continue to ensure your gaze is still on the Lord. No matter where we are in life we have to keep God as the center of our lives and not get too busy for the He, the Father. We must remember that what He did for us and the blood He shed for each one of us to be here today is something to be worthy, something to be praised, and something to appreciate and be grateful for.
Looking up ensures we are looking towards the light, because Jesus is the Light and He sits on high. That's a fact, so…
