You Think You're Alone, But You're Not

The one thing most people do at night when they lay down to sleep, is think. Being alone at night can  be a time of creativity. Thinking can be a good thing or a not so good thing. It depends on our perspective. When some people are alone at night, sometimes they let that time get the best of them. It's nighttime and they're alone -- the two things some people don't like at the same time. Nighttime is ok as long as there's someone else with them and being alone is not so bad as long as it's in the daytime. Pair them together and that makes some uncomfortable. Yet being uncomfortable is not always a bad thing, nor is it a permanent thing. It can be a time to hear from God if we are open to it. Remember my article, It's Different in the Dark ? In that article I talked about how it was difficult to see clearly at night (that's where negative thinking can creep in if we're not careful) and how we could use that time as a time of reflect...

Those Church People

Give church a try and see for yourself. One of the first things some people say about some of the people they don't understand is, "those people..." Many times this sentence-starter crosses over many boundaries like religion, spirituality, race, gender, education, occupation, or socioeconomic levels. "Those people" this and "those people" that . Usually such words are based on misunderstanding, jealously, or miscommunication. Another reason is a cop-out mindset. In other words, if "those people" are made to be bad, negative, or a nuisance, it's easy to justify our wrong living. It's easy to dismiss them as being insignificant, crazy, or just plain weird. When "those people" are extended towards the people who attend church, especially if they slip or have a scandal, the usual response is, 'see I told you those people were hypocrites, that's why I don't go to that church', as though the people who att...

5,000

I have some questions for you. Do you need a miracle? Are you lacking anything? Do you need more than enough? If so, Jesus can help you in every one of those areas. He did it for me when I was down and out. And He did it more than once. His grace is abundant today, yesterday, and forever. During His days on earth, people came to hear Him speak and perform miracles, because they wanted more. They needed His guidance. They needed His help. They needed His direction. We all need Him. None of us can do this thing called life alone. Jesus gives us the resources, because He is the source. He will give us the things we need and want. It will happen when we go to Him, just like the people did. Anything they needed, they knew the source in which to tap. He will do that for anybody who seeks Him. Going to Him made the people smart and humble in the eyes of Jesus and He gave them what they desired. It doesn't take anything for Jesus to fix it. This is how it happened: ...

The Rich Man

"And he said: "Truly I tell you, unless you  change and become like little children,  you will never enter the kingdom of heaven"   (Matthew 18:3/4) Did you know some people think they have this "God thing" all figured out? Yes, they think just because they're educated and/or rich and/or famous, they got this and they don't need God. Their attitude is like that of the rich man 1 in the bible. He didn't think he needed God, because he thought he had it all together. He thought he was so important with his money, his position, and his political relationships, that he wouldn't have to want for anything.  Yet the reality was (and is), without God, who is real by the way , the rich man was a nobody. He was not important and his position and political relationships were temporary at best. He wasn't anyone to be impressed with. To God it would take a whole lot more than that, especially since God gave it to him in the first place ...

Weeble Woobles

Push me if you like, but I'm  going to bounce right back up. "Weebles wobble, but they don't fall down."   In the 1970's and '80's there was a commercial on TV and the slogan was, "Weebles wobble, but they don't fall down." Weebles were an egg-shaped toy figure that would never fall down no matter how much you pushed or manipulated it. It would go to the left, go to the right, backwards, and forwards, but it wouldn't hit the floor. No matter how hard or how much you pushed it, it would bounce right back up. It weebled and woobled every which a way and it never fell down. They were popular toys back then and billions were probably sold of those little objects. People loved them.  But what was the fascination? Well, for starters, they had an attractive name:  Weeble Wobbles . Catchy. Humorous. True. Secondly, back then and even today, people love the never-give-up, push through mentality. We love a trooper, a fighter, an...
