Seeking higher, going higer

Daily Devotional Podcast. Follow along with blog post. That's what Abram, later called Abraham had to do in  Genesis 12 :1 -- s eeking higher, going higher, and and I can only imagine how that must have felt for him. Yet, anything worthwhile won't come easy. It's going to cost each one of us  something . Are you willing to give what it takes to go higher? It's a question all of us have to answer at some point. The Lord told Abram:  “I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you" (Genesis 12:2/3).     Abram decided to heed the call and it paid off for him. The Lord told him what He would do for him and of course, the Lord came through. He always does. Abraham goes down in history as being a man of faith, the father of many nations, and apparently, many descendants.

The new you

2 Corinthians 5 :17  says,  "If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come."  You can walk in confidence in knowing that, because it's about knowing who you are, what makes your tick, and what drives you. Do you know who you are? When we know who we  really  are, then we know who we are in Christ. We no longer look back at who we used to be, we look at who we are now and who we are becoming. We focus on the new creations, not on what's old and passed away. When you know yourself you don't have to convince others to like you, to love you, or beg anybody to do anything for you or with you. I'm not saying we don't need people, because we all need people. I'm just saying that when we know who we are, we know how to operate from a loving, godly, peaceful, and strong place of confidence and we don't need anybody's approval. No bragging, no boasting, no arrogance, and no pride. It's just a qui

God is still with you

Daily Devotional Podcast. Follow along with blog post. I've come to remind you today that God is with you and He will make a way for you. I know, because He did it for me. When no one was around, He comforted me. When people who were the closest to me, betrayed me, He reassured me. And when I wasn't sure how I was going to make it through, He made a way for me. So, yes I know that God is with you and He will make a way out of no way. He can and will open the flood gates for what it is you want in your life. Where do you want to go? What do you need Him to fix? He will do it. He will part the Red Sea for you just like He did for the Israelites. Yes He will. He will make a way in your life when it seems there is no way. And if He did it for me, He will do it for you too. The Lord said to Joshua in  Joshua 1 :5, "no one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you"

More blessings

Did you know God will not hold back all He has for us? We may not get everything we want, but let me assure you, we will most definitely get everything we need. If we will just trust Him to do what He said He would do in our lives, we will have all of our needs met and many of our wants. Yet we read God's word and we pray without ceasing, but we're not walking out what we say we believe. Why? Either we trust God or we don't. We have to push through even when things don't seem to be working in our favor. We cannot give up. When you watch super athletes, notice how they don't stop even when they're down. They continue on despite being beaten up on, despite that they may be in last place. And whether they come back to win or not, they stayed in to the end. That is the blessing. They never abandoned what they believed in, so they can still be called winners and they will get the blessings that come with hanging in there.  It's the same with us regarding God

Kingdom keys

Do you know, Jesus will give us the keys to the kingdom of heaven? If we let Him, that is. Do you want to be used by Jesus to do great works? Do you want to tap into all He has for you? It’s the choice we all have to make. In  Matthew 16 :19 Jesus said,  "I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven."  That is what Jesus told Peter disciples   regarding the power Jesus had given him and how he could  continue Christ’s work on earth in preaching the gospel and declaring God's will to men, and how he was armed with the same authority as Jesus. That didn't mean take the place of Jesus. There's only one Jesus. It meant walk in authority, leadership, confidence, and power to draw all men (people) to the Lord.  Today nothing has changed. We have that same authority. We can use our life to help others see Christ. We don't hav

Things are moving in your favor

Daily Devotional Podcast. Follow along with blog post. Do you know that just as the air is flowing through the atmosphere, God is with you? And He's moving things in your direction? Yes, He's shifting things in your favor and things are going to work out for you. Do you know He will never leave you or forsake you? Sometimes we may feel all alone, we may feel like nobody gets us, and we may feel like God has forgotten about us, but know this: we're not alone, somebody else is feeling exactly the same way we are, and God remembers us. Considering those things, God is moving in the atmosphere and things are going to work out for you. He hasn't abandoned you and guess what,  You haven't abandoned Him either. God knows the exact plans He has for each of us. Jeremiah 29:11   is proof of that. It says,  "for I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."  God is here a

The door to God is always open

Daily Devotional Podcast. Follow along with blog post. Do you know the door to God is always open? Do you know Jesus paid it all for us? That's right. He gave everything for us when He died on the cross. I know you have heard all of this before, but I'm simply reminding you, because sometimes we forget that He took all that pain and agony so we wouldn't have to. He paid for our value, for us to live a free life, and He didn't charge us anything. How awesome is that? Awesome indeed. Therefore He's there for you anytime. Do you need anything from Him today? Do you have an issue that you want Him to get you through? When you call on Him, He will answer. I am a witness to that.  Some of you may know Him and some don't. If you don't know Him,  Romans 10 :9-11 says, 'If you declare with your mouth, that “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, then will be saved and covered. It's with your heart that you be

The good news

Daily Devotional Podcast. Follow along with blog post. Jesus has come to bring you the good news. In Isaiah 61 :1-3 , he says: "The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn; to grant to those who mourn in Zion—to give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit; that they may be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he may be glorified."  Rejoice in the Lord today, because Jesus Christ has given you that freedom. He was empowered by the God to cover you, His oaks of righteousness, you .

You make a difference

Daily Devotional Podcast. Follow along with blog post. "But those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing" ( Psalm 34 :10b). When you're strong in the Lord, do you know you can make a positive difference to someone? It's true. Even if you think that what you're doing isn't making that big of an impact, let me tell you that it is. We don't always know who we are really interacting with at any given moment. We don't always know who God puts in front of us or why sometimes. But the love you're spreading, the joy you're giving, and the kindness you're displaying, is playing into someone's life. Do you realize that? Do you realize that there are people who love to listen to you, they love being around you, they love your positivity, and they admire what you're putting out there? Yes, you. You're making an impact, you're making a dent, you're making a difference.  Everyday we all have an opportunity to mak

God chose you

Do you know you are chosen by God to do the things you are going to do? That means that although you may be unqualified to do what you're going to do, God is still going to use you. Why? Because 1 Corinthians 1 :27-29 says, "But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, so that no human being might boast in the presence of God."  So, there you have it. If you are doing the will of the Lord, then you are really unqualified to do everything you're doing and will do. And that is just fine, that's the way the Lord would have it, because when He calls those to do amazing things, He is with those He calls and chooses. That's how it goes, so don't worry about the fact that you started low or you might even be lower than you want to be right now. The Lord is going to lift you u

The old you is gone

2 Corinthians 5 :17  says,  "If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come." So, there's no reason to look back. You have been made new in Christ. No need to try to bring back your old self. She has passed away. God is doing a new thing. No need to look back any longer at who you used to be, just focus on who you are becoming. Just focus on the new creation God is working on and yes He is doing something magnificent in you. So, stay rooted and grounded in Christ. I've come to encourage you to walk with confidence in the Lord, because your life is changing for the better. Look forward and keep your eyes gazed there. The old you is gone and there is a new and better you. Be encouraged as you continue to seek God --  Matthew 6 :33  reminds us to continuously seek Him and He will add to our lives. That means we will be able to walk with confidence in becoming all He wants us to be. Hallelujah.

Faithful

Daily Devotional Podcast. Follow along with blog post. Do you know that what God promised you, is still there? Oh yes, it's still  there . It's just that you can't see it in the natural. You can only see it with your spiritual eyes. You see, that's how faith works. It's the substance or confidence of things we hope for and the evidence, assurance, certainty, and proof of things that we do not see.  Hebrews 11 :1  is proof of that. So, when you start getting down, as we all do from time to time, about things that God promised you -- things God showed you, but they haven't been manifested yet? Know that what you want manifested in your life will  still  happen. It will come to pass. It will show itself in your life. But this is the thing though: it will only show itself if you do not give up and lose hope. That's it. Don't lose hope, because it's taking too long. You can't give up because of that. You have to stay with it. What else do you h

Love forever

Daily Devotional Podcast. Follow along with blog post. “Neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord" ( Romans 8 :39). Jesus will love us forever and ever, amen. I hope you believe that. If you do, you can walk boldly with the power that the Lord has given you to conquer anything, because He has made you more than a conqueror. Yes. Once that is established, you got this. Yes. And since you are also a representative of Him, He gives you the backing to do what you were meant to do -- in His name, that is, not yours and not mine. Wow, that's amazing, isn't it? Once we know who we are in Christ Jesus, there is no stopping us. When we really grasp that concept we will always walk upright and never be downcast. We will look towards heaven (the light), not Sheol (the darkness). Why? Because Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in dar

The voice of the Lord

Daily Devotional Podcast. Follow along with blog post. Do you know there's power in the name of Jesus? And do you know you can tap into that power at anytime? It's about knowing the voice of the Lord. For, He speaks in so many ways.  To help illustrate the power of the voice of the Lord, I'm going to read the poetic  Psalm 29 :3-9, which   says:  The voice of the Lord is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the Lord thunders over the mighty waters. The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is majestic. The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars; the Lord breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon. He makes Lebanon leap like a calf, Sirion like a young wild ox. The voice of the Lord strikes with flashes of lightning. The voice of the Lord shakes the desert; the Lord shakes the Desert of Kadesh. The voice of the Lord twists the oaks and strips the forests bare. And in his temple all cry, “Glory!” Now, that's p

Change and growth

Daily Devotional Podcast. Follow along with blog post. Do you know God wants to bless you? Do you know He has abundance for you? Where are you today? Are you in the same place you were last year? A few years ago? A decade ago? Or have you've grown? Because change happens regardless of where we are and positive growth should come with that change. The blessings are in moving with the times and being open to the new moves of the Lord. All of us can start moving, start opening up, and start accepting people for who they are. Yes, and God can help us when we seek His face.  Matthew 6:25-34  tells us not to worry about tomorrow and when we seek God, He will add to our lives. Seeking Him should be the focus and change and growth will come with that. It's a guarantee. As we seek Him we will be new creations in Christ. We will. So we should indeed take note of that, if we are to believe the great plans He has for our lives. We have to believe for great and positive things ov

God is working for you

Daily Devotional Podcast. Follow along with blog post. Would you agree that it's no surprise that people who exercise consistently are the ones who are in better shape than the ones who don't? And would you concur that it's also no surprise that we seldom see a sluggard person who stays with anything for any considerable amount of time? Why do you think that is? Does it remind you of a particular scripture perhaps? Namely, Proverbs 13 :4 , which says,  "a sluggard’s appetite is never filled, but the desires of the diligent are fully satisfied." Clearly, one has a purpose and is willing to work at it and one doesn't, right? I believe you're more like the diligent one -- the one on the road of purpose. Notice how you read and listen to devotionals. I would even bet that you do much more than that. You're the one who is going to become one of the fittest, because you stayed the course. You showed up. You are running your race. Yes, you're t

Looking forward

Don't give up on where the Lord is taking you. It's easy to stop when it seems nothing is working or nothing is happening. Yet, if you will continue on, things will happen. It's similar to losing weight, as long as you continue working out and eating in a healthy manner, you will look up one day and boom, it will seem as though all that weight melted off overnight. And although it wasn't overnight in the natural, it could easily be overnight in the spirit. That's right, God doesn't operate on man's schedule. Time to God is not in our time. He can change things in an instant when we rely on Him and not on what we think we see with our natural eyes. So you have to continue on, because you never know when the Lord is going to move. Thus, I've come to tell you today, to look forward. Don't worry about your current circumstances, don't worry what anybody says or doesn't say. What did God say? You have to know it for yourself and when you know

My sheep hear my voice

God says my sheep hear my voice. Yes, hearing the voice of the Lord will bring you through. You do know that, right? Are you in tune with Him? Are you keeping the lines of communication open with Him?  A relationship is crucial to self-development and going where God has for us to go. A relationship will enable us to hear His voice. And when we hear His voice, we will stay near to Him in order to hear Him and He will hear us too.  John 10 :27/28 says, " My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand." So continue to soak in the Word of God. John 10:29/30 says, "My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand. I and the Father are one.” Stay close to the Lord, because He is still with you, and He still hears you. Do you hear Him?

Live a full life

Daily Devotional Podcast. Follow along with blog post. I read a quote yesterday and it went as follows: "The devil wants you to worry about your future so you can’t enjoy your life right now. He is a liar! Enjoy every minute of your life because it is a gift from God to you. I pray that you’re set free from every obstacle today in Jesus name."   (Prayer Force). It's a good quote, isn't it? And it's a reminder that God always has more for ours lives, so why not enjoy our lives, right? Why not look towards heaven in the good times and the bad times? Matthew 6 :34 says,  "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." That means don't worry about your future. God's got that in control, alright? All we need to do is keep doing the great things He has us doing and movement will happen. When we are living right, as best as we can, and looking towards great things, then we

Love never fails

Daily Devotional Podcast. Follow along with blog post. "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres." Those verses come from 1 Corinthians 13 :4-7. Do you know we have an advantage when it comes to love? Yes, when we are in Christ, we can love with the love of Him that's in us. What's in us comes out of us. If love is in us, we will give love, receive love, and walk in love. And when we walk in love, we will be able to impact people with lasting change. I'm not saying we will never get frustrated or discouraged, because those are human emotions. Those things are part of life. I'm just saying we will have the ability to not let those emotions get the best of us, because our foun

Be still and know I am God

Daily Devotional Podcast. Follow along with blog post. Just in case you may need a little reminder, God is still with you, so be still and know He is God. Just in case you may need a little reminder, the alpha and the omega, the beginning and the end, the Lord Jesus Christ, is still with you, so be still and know He is God.  Psalm 46 says, "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells. God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day. Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall; he lifts his voice, the earth melts. The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Come and see what the Lord has done, the desolations he has brought on the earth. He

Watch your words

Daily Devotional Podcast. Follow along with blog post. Do you know that what we say can and will be used for or against us? Yes, Proverbs 18 :21 says, "the tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit." What are you speaking over your life? What are you speaking over the life of your children, your spouse, your career, finances, health, or anything else? Whatever words we are choosing, because as we know, what we say is a choice, those words dictate if we are speaking to the Lord and giving those words life or if we are speaking to the devil -- the enemy, to give those words death. What are you choosing? Are you speaking like a winner in Christ or not? Because let me tell you, Christ is full of love (1 John 4) and He is full of positivity and light. Yes. And when we speak good and positive things into the atmosphere we give them leverage in Jesus name, to be fruitful and multiply. We have a choice in how our life goes. Because Pro

Doing more for Jesus

Daily Devotional Podcast. Follow along with blog post. "So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ" ( Romans 10 :17). Today I'm wondering how much we're doing to tell others about Christ. Although I am doing much, I could be doing even more and I know it. I can open my mouth more. How about you? What are you doing to win souls for Jesus? Are you doing enough? Some of us can answer those questions with a definitive answer in the affirmative and some of us can't. Some of us can outline with clarity who, what, when, where, why, and how we're speaking or preaching to help others establish a relationship with the Lord. And some of us can't even begin to, because nothing is happening. Some of us are hot for Jesus and some of us are cold or even worse, lukewarm. Do you know there is much all of us can be doing for the kingdom of God? You may ask what? Well, for starters, we can get out of ourselves and out of our problems and

You will win

"Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him" ( James 1 :12). What that means is that we have to stand no matter what, because in the end we will win. And we have to persevere, which means we have to carry on and keep on keeping on no matter what. We have to continue on despite any struggles and any hard times we've gone through or are going through now. Do you know challenges are to strengthen us? Yes, the Lord uses our pain for gain. So we cannot, will not, and must not give up. We have to push on and stay the course, because brighter days are coming, which gives us reason to be glad and rejoice in today. The good news is that we have a choice to look towards the light, Jesus. We can draw on His energy and He will recharge us continuously. When we draw on Him, there's nothing He can't do for us and through us, so we must persevere.
