Looking High

When things are going great and when things aren't,  Psalm 105 :4 says , to "seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually!" God is with us in the good times and the not so good times. But when it comes to us being with God it's a different story. I see many people who are with Him in the good times, but when the struggles come, they flee. And I see people who are with Him when the struggles come, but when things get good, they flee. Which way are we going to have it? Are we going to be hot one day then cold the other? That's called being lukewarm. God says, in Revelation 3 :16, that being lukewarm (wishy-washy) is not good and He will spit us out His mouth. Thus, being hot and cold (lukewarm) depending on how the wind blows, is not being consistent in God. Being lukewarm is based on how we feel, not faith, so how can God trust us with anything when we don't trust Him? Looking high means seeking God no matter our circumstances -- goo...

Good Works

Value good works and kindness, because they are amazing attributes. There's nothing weak about being kind, being of good cheer, and doing acts of charity. Wasn't Jesus concerned with all of those things? Thus, they are great traits, which mean they come from a place of strength. Such was the case with a disciple named Tabitha who also went by the Greek name, Dorcas ( Acts 9:36-43 ). I liked this story, because it was one of not only kindness, good works, and charity. but one of hope,  faith, and miracles. Tabitha was a kind and charitable person who helped people. In Acts 9:37 she became sick and died. Her body was placed in the upper room and the disciples sent for Peter. When Peter came to the house he rushed to the upper room and told Tabitha to arise. She opened her eyes, took Peter's hand, and presented herself to the widows and other disciples who witnessed a miracle from the Lord. The story of Tabitha is one where we should never give up hope that God will ...

If God Did It Before, He Can Do It Again

You've probably heard that before, right? If God did it before, He can do it again. It's true. He can and will bless you over and over again. Yet here's the thing: those blessings may not come packaged the way you may think, so we must remain open to His will for our lives. He's never wrong and He comes right on time. Stay in tuned to what He wants for your life. Out of curiosity, do you write down the vision/goals the Lord has for your life? It's a really good practice. I've been doing it for a long time and it's very effective. Habakkuk 2 :2/3 says, “write the vision;   make it plain on tablets,   so he may run who reads it.   For still the vision awaits its appointed time;   it hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it;   it will surely come; it will not delay." That's a good start to tapping into the Lord's direction for our lives. Just think about the things He's already done then think about your futur...

Thankful

"Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever!" ( Psalm 107 :1). That means to be in a thankful posture towards the Lord, as well as, being thankful for what we have, not only focusing on what we don't have. If you take a moment to look at your life and what's around you, it's a good chance that you have many more blessings than you think. There are many people who don't have it as good as yourself. And just in case you're saying, no Sharon you truly don't understand what's going on in my life. Well let me tell you, I may not know all the facts, but I know there are people who have it doubly worse than you and someone who has it doubly worse than them. It's just the way of the world. Why? I don't know all the answers to the reason why. Yet I do know that God allows certain hardships in our lives to get the glory from us coming out of our plights. He wants to showcase our lives for others to see His...

Wisdom is a Shield

When we tap into all the things of God, we tap into some amazing things. We can start with His word, the bible, and I can really stop right there. His word is where we find knowledge, which turns into wisdom when applied. We can tap into His spirit too. His spirit is His breath of life, His existence is what we must use to guide our lives. No we can't see Him, but let me tell you, we can indeed sense and feel His presence. That's for sure. So yes, He is a shield to us in all His splendor. Following His plan for our life involves getting wisdom and knowledge. That's how we will be at the top of our game, spiritually. There's no way around it. In other words, we can't be all He has for us, half-stepping through life. We have to go in full force and get what He has for us to be fruitful and multiply. "For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding; he stores up sound wisdom for the upright; he is a shield to those who walk in...

I Believe in Miracles

"...and the Lord caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea into dry land, and the waters were divided" ( Exodus 14 :21). Another miracle from God -- the parting of the Red Sea -- the opening of a blessing the Lord poured out to His people. Won't He do it? Don't you dare sleep on Him. He will only disappoint you if you do, because He makes ways out of no ways. He makes crooked places straight. He defies what man said could not be done. He did it before and He will do it again and again. He's the magnificent God who loves to show doubting people who He is. He is The Great I Am, just in case anyone has forgotten, which means He can perform any feat He wants to.  So yes, I absolutely believe in miracles, because I have seen God work many times in my lifetime. Sometimes those miracles involved me personally and sometimes they didn't. Thus, I do not, for one minute, underestimate the power of the Lord, for He is truly ...

My Medicine

A joyful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit dries up the bones ( Proverbs 17 :22).  When we have a cheerful, happy, and exuberant heart, it's like getting good medicine from God without having to down one single pill. Isn't that awesome? All we have to do is get into the presence of the Lord and just like that -- automatically, our entire countenance can change in an instant. Our spirit can be rejuvenated that quickly, like great medicine. Considering that, I rather be spiritually medicated on the Lord than anything else, wouldn't you? When we continuously develop and refine our relationship with Him, we can't help but be in better spirits and have a better and stronger heart. It's true. There can be chaos going on all around us and we can be the only one with a calm and joyous heart. That's because we know where our strength lies and when we know that, we have a spirit that's alive and kicking. Then we can roll up our sleeves and get to doin...
